    我国的基本国情是人多地少，人均占有耕地大约是1.4亩。印度是2.8亩，而巴西、美国和俄罗斯那就更多了。这么少的耕地，又要养活这么多的人，优良的种子是功不可没的。然而，如果我们中国人，特别是中国的科学家，不想办法去解决土地资源问题，而是把思路只局限在开发高产种子上，包括研发转基因农作物。我断言，中国的农业问题不可能得到根本解决，中国人民的吃饭问题必将永久地困扰我们。

Chinese basic situation is many of population and short of cultivated land, per capita farmland is about 1.4 mu in China, but 2.8 mu in India, more and more in Brazil, America and Russia. So short of farmland and feed so much of population excellent seeds are meritorious. If Chinese, especially Chinese scientists don't solve the problem of shortage of land resources and their concern is only high-yield seeds including GM crops,I protest that the Chinese foods can not solve and puzzle us perpetually.
